“I saw that my life was a vast glowing empty page and I could do anything that I wanted.”

-Jack Kerouac

Every single organism alive today (including you, of course) has a completely unbroken chain of ancestors dating back to the very earliest stages of life on earth. Have you ever stopped and realised exactly how lucky you are? What are the chances that you, in your current form, even exist?

“Hello, grandpa!”

So I’ve had enough of your moaning. I’m sick of the constant stream of excuses, weakness, and self-doubt I hear almost every day.

The time is now. There’s a whole world of opportunity out there. If you want to do something, go and do it. Lay the first brick.

I love James Altucher’s idea of ‘choosing yourself’: self-publish your novel, put your music on SoundCloud, share your movies on YouTube. You don’t need anyone’s permission.

Our generation have got it a lot easier than Henry Rollins, who stapled copies of his first book together by hand on a kitchen table. Amazon will do it all for you.

All it takes to get started is the realisation that your life too, is a vast, glowing empty page – one you can fill any way you like.
